Woodgate Farmhouse is located in a quiet country lane just south of the village of West Winterslow in the peaceful Wiltshire countryside. We are located just 20 minutes from the centre of the Medieval Cathedral City of Salisbury
We are located behind electrically operated wooden gates in Livery Road, a code for which will be provided on arrival. Please ring bell and we will open the gates. If arriving from the North, Woodgate Farmhouse is reached well before the postcode of SP5 1RJ. Pass through the village of West Winterslow and Woodgate Farmhouse is the first property on the left after passing the derestricted sign. Special dietary requirements can usually be catered for, but please advise us of these in advance of your arrival.
The nearest station is Salisbury and is only a 20 minute taxi ride away. Salisbury provides regular rail services to London Waterloo, Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton, and Portsmouth.
The village of Winterslow is served by a regular bus service Monday to Saturday, No 89, from the centre of Salisbury. The bus stop in Winterslow , Kings Corner is about half a mile walk from Woodgate Farmhouse. Click here for full timetable.
Winterslow Post Office and General stores is well stocked and is open from 6 am to 6 pm four days a week and till 7 pm two days per week , it also provides banking services, good foreign currency exchange facilities and Post Office services till 5 pm each weekday.
The village has two pubs, both serving good food, the Lord Nelson Arms is 1.1 miles by road and the Lion’s Head is 1.3 miles by road, both Pubs can be reached in a shorter distance cross country via the network of footpaths with which the village is so well endowed! Neither Pub serve food on Sunday or Monday evenings however the Silver Plough in the adjacent village of Pitton serves excellent food daily. It is just over a mile across country and two miles by road. There is also the option of the Hook and Glove Pub in the village of Farley (closed Mondays) and as with all our Pubs there is a shorter and prettier route following the local footpaths than by road! The village also has a hairdresser and four churches the times of services are available in the guest information folder in each room.
Car Parking and Arrival
There is ample secure parking in our graveled car park either in front of the house or in a larger car park behind the house next to the stable yard.
We request that guests arrive after 4 pm to ensure the accommodation is ready for you, if an earlier arrival time is required please let us know in advance and we will endeavour to make that possible. Please let us know your expected arrival time so we can be sure to be here to welcome you! We will happily make you a welcome drink for you to enjoy in the garden or dining room on your arrival, and why not try Jenny’s home made scones!
We ask guests to vacate their rooms by 10:30 am to give us time to prepare for our next guests. For those staying more than one night, you are welcome to come and go as you wish during the day,a front door key is provided.
